About 0x Protocol
0x is a protocol designed for interacting with the Ethereum blockchain. It was created with the intent of allowing Ethereum smart contracts to seamlessly exchange Ethereum-based assets.
exchanges are run by a single entity, thus being susceptible to hacks and security risks, and decentralized exchanges are slow, illiquid, have high fees and are unable to operate with each other.
0x addresses these concerns by developing a standard protocol that can be applied to all orders relayed off the blockchain. While being similar to a decentralized exchange, 0x is much faster and eliminates unnecessary transaction fees as orders go back on the blockchain once they are settled, instead of at every transaction.
